I'm self taught mixed media artist. An experimenter. A creative rule breaker.. I spend my days puttering around in the little studio that my husband made just for me in the loft of our barn. It is my own little slice of heaven.

Kree-ey-TIV-i-tee: (n.) The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc; originality, progressiveness or imagination.

I believe we are all creative beings.  My chosen path of creating allows my thoughts, emotions and prayers to express themselves in the tangible medium of color and texture. Creating art has allowed me to develop the ability to perceive the world in totally new and unique ways. I have found that the things that inspire me most are all around me, I just need to stop and be present to "see".

To me "mixed media" is synonymous with the words "free" and "uninhibited", which is right up my alley. Most of the time I work in a very intuitive sort of way. One step leads to something else and that will then lead to something else and so on. Working in this manner has taught me much about letting go and embracing imperfection. Skills that are good to have in so many other areas of life.

I love color and whimsy and layers....  Oh, how I love layers! I am addicted to paper in all forms. I will use receipts from the grocery store as collage pieces, as well as the finest paper, book pages, hand written letters, old hymnals... you name it and chances are I've used it.  However, my VERY FAVORITE thing to use as collage fodder is hand painted papers. Trust me, there is NOTHING better!! I will often vary the materials that I use from piece to piece, but the common element in everything that I do is my use of collage.

I am blessed to have the time to create and a beautiful space that inspires me to be creative.  I hope that my joy and gratitude (always gratitude!) are evident in everything that I do.
